TSMC is building out four next-generation 1.4nm chip plants in central Taiwan faster than planned, good news for Taiwan's economy and for chip supply.

• The first plant has finished its steel frame and should be done by April next year, with trial production to follow.
• The second plant is ahead of schedule and may finish early, putting two plants online by the end of next year.
• All four are expected to be finished within two years, creating 4,500 jobs.
• Officials say the earlier revenue estimate of NT$500 billion a year is too low, though the real number depends on how much the Hsinchu 1.4nm line can produce.
