Taiwan prosecutors have widened a corruption case against ruling-party lawmaker Lin Tai-hua, accusing her of pocketing more than NT$13 million in campaign donations — bad news for her and for the Democratic Progressive Party.

• Prosecutors in Kaohsiung say Lin, her younger brother and one associate used two marketing firms to write fake invoices and take money from her campaign donation accounts.
• The money was allegedly reported to the Control Yuan as campaign spending, but instead went to cash withdrawals, unrelated tax bills, office rent and company funds.
• The donations came from her runs for the last two terms in parliament, which together raised over NT$100 million.
• Lin denies wrongdoing and says she left all donation paperwork to her brother after their father died; her brother says he was only a financial adviser at one of the firms.

Outlook: The new charges are folded into the existing case already before the Kaohsiung District Court, so Lin faces a single, larger trial with her political future on the line.
