DRAM price gains to slow in Q3 as consumer memory leads increases

Sep 07, 2026

Memory chip prices keep rising but the pace is cooling, which is good for memory makers and their suppliers and bad for PC and phone builders still swallowing higher costs.

  • Regular DRAM contract prices are set to rise 13–18% this quarter, a smaller jump than last quarter's surge.
  • Consumer memory is climbing the most because chipmakers sharply cut how much of it they produce.
  • PC and smartphone customers can only absorb so much, and some server buyers are shifting from big memory modules to smaller ones.
  • Industry revenue jumped nearly 60% last quarter, with Samsung leading on early HBM4 shipments ahead of SK Hynix and Micron.
  • Taiwan's Macronix and ADATA both posted record monthly sales, with ADATA's revenue up almost 280% from a year ago.

Outlook: AI datacenter spending keeps memory tight, so prices should keep rising into year-end, just more slowly.
