AIDC Wins 20-Year Structural Contract for Bombardier Business Jet

Sep 07, 2026

Taiwanese aerospace manufacturer AIDC has secured a 20-year long-term contract from Canada's Bombardier — good news for the company and for Taiwan's aerospace supply chain, though its share price rose only slightly before being dragged into the red by the broader market.

  • AIDC will build the cockpit and forward fuselage structures for Bombardier's Challenger 3500 business jet, under a contract covering the aircraft type's entire service life, spanning 20 years.
  • The forward fuselage is the most technically demanding part of the airframe, and few suppliers worldwide can produce it. AIDC spent two years passing technical reviews before winning the deal.
  • AIDC plans to farm out machined components to local Taiwanese firms such as Chullong Precision, boosting the aerospace supply chain as a whole.
  • The company's strategy is to move up from making parts to making large structural assemblies, with the goal of becoming a tier-one international airframe structures supplier.
  • Defence is another growth line: the Legislative Yuan has passed a six-year, NT$240 billion act on defence self-reliance and drones, and AIDC is among the main beneficiary stocks.

Outlook: The long-term contract gives AIDC a stable revenue stream for years to come, but in the short term its share price will continue to swing with the broader market and the drone theme.
