Taiwan memory chipmaker Macronix posted its best month ever, a strong sign that the AI boom is now pulling hard on older, cheaper memory chips too.

• August sales rose 5% from July and more than tripled from a year ago, a record month.
• Sales for the first eight months of the year are up about 150%, showing the surge is not a one-off.
• AI demand has sparked a memory "super cycle," with orders for NAND flash and eMMC chips far outstripping what the company can make.
• Profit margins are near 70% and management sees 80% within reach as new production capacity comes online.
• Analysts expect sales to jump more than 27% this quarter as the company raises prices month after month.

Outlook: With supply tight and prices still rising, Macronix looks set to keep breaking revenue records into the end of the year.
