AI demand drives record sales at chip test firm Wintest

Sep 07, 2026

Taiwan's chip-testing interface maker Yingwei (Wintest, 6515) posted its third straight record month of sales in August, a strong sign that the AI chip boom is still accelerating.

  • August sales more than tripled from a year earlier, and sales for the first eight months of 2026 nearly doubled.
  • The company says the problem is not demand but supply — it cannot make enough test hardware fast enough.
  • Capacity will be expanded by another 50% between the second and third quarters of next year.
  • AI chips now need far more connection pins than old CPUs did, and each jump in pin count pushes selling prices higher.
  • Its current test platform can handle chips up to about 20,000 pins, covering the top-end AI chips expected over the next two years.

Outlook: As long as AI chip orders keep coming, sales should keep climbing, with the added capacity arriving late next year.
