Four candidates have now signed up for Penghu's county magistrate election, turning a small island race into a crowded contest.

• Taiwan Solidarity Union chair Chou Ni-an and former deputy county chief Hsu Chih-fu both registered, joining the KMT's Chen Chen-chung and the DPP's Wu Shu-chin.

• Hsu, a former civil affairs chief, has called for a candidates' debate, but no one has answered yet.
