Kaohsiung DPP candidates register together in Sanmin district
Three Democratic Progressive Party politicians in Kaohsiung's Sanmin district have registered their local election bids together, aiming to sweep all three seats and win a majority on the city council.
- Kaohsiung council speaker Kang Yu-cheng registered alongside sitting councillors Ho Chuan-feng and Cheng Meng-ju under a joint "win all three in Sanmin" push.
- The goal is bigger than one district: the DPP wants over half the seats on the Kaohsiung city council.
- DPP mayoral candidate Lai Jui-lung and local legislator Lee Kun-tse backed the trio, saying a friendly council is what lets a new mayor actually deliver.
- Sanmin is one of Kaohsiung's core districts, so a clean sweep there would be an early signal of DPP strength in the city.
Outlook: Expect the DPP to keep bundling candidates district by district as campaigning ramps up ahead of the local elections.
