• Passport holders from 60 places, including Taiwan, the US, UK, Japan, and most of Europe, will get 30 days instead of 60.
• The rule was published in Thailand's official gazette at the end of August and takes effect September 15, 2026.
• Travelers also need a departure ticket dated within 30 days of arrival, and airline staff may check it at the airport before boarding.
• An online entry form must be filed within 72 hours before arrival, and the QR code it sends back is shown to immigration along with the passport.

Outlook: Anyone planning a longer trip to Thailand after mid-September will need a proper visa or an extension, and border-run style long stays get much harder.
