Taiwan is treating offshore wind as a national build-out rather than a project-by-project business, which is good news for the local supply chain and for green-energy investors.

• Premier Cho Jung-tai said offshore wind will now be run as a cross-region national strategic project backed by the full weight of the government.
• Ørsted finished its 920MW Greater Changhua southwest and northwest wind farms, enough to power 2 million homes.
• The new turbines are bigger and more efficient, and use a suction-bucket foundation that avoids pile driving on the seabed.
• Taiwan now has 514 turbines running and about 4.9GW of wind capacity, ranking near the top globally for installed offshore wind.
• The government wants 15 to 18GW of offshore wind by 2039, including floating wind farms in deeper water.

Outlook: Expect more state coordination, cheaper green financing, and a push to grow local suppliers into international contractors.
