Southern Taiwan is bracing for another round of flooding, bad news for residents and factories along the Sanye River in Tainan's Rende district who were already underwater for three straight days in late August.

• A low pressure system has kept rain falling on Tainan, and Typhoon Sadel may swing back around with heavy moisture.
• Rende residents took more than 1,500 sandbags in two weeks, leaving fewer than 2,000 in stock, so the district office rushed in over a thousand more.
• Homeowners and factory operators are already collecting them, and officials say the sandbags did cut down flood damage last time.
• Nearby Xinhua district, crossed by the Hutou and Yanshui rivers, has stocked over 6,700 sandbags and 85 waterproof barriers at pickup points including temples, schools and a pumping station.
• Residents are asked not to dump used sandbags in drainage ditches, and to return them for recycling after the rainy season.

Outlook: More heavy rain is expected in the coming days, and flood-prone riverside neighborhoods in Tainan are the most likely to be hit again.
