Taipei's Songnan military site, once a candidate for Nvidia's headquarters, goes up for land-lease tender
Taiwan is putting 12 state-owned plots out for long-term lease, including a Taipei site once floated as a home for Nvidia's new headquarters — a chance for developers, and a sign the Nvidia site question is still open.
- The Songnan former military base in Taipei's Songshan district, 3.3 hectares, is the headline plot in the year's final batch of state land lease tenders.
- It was one of the sites the government recommended to Nvidia as a backup location for its Taiwan headquarters.
- The 12 plots are spread across Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, Taichung, Hsinchu, Yunlin, Changhua, Kaohsiung, Chiayi and Penghu.
- Most are housing plots, with one commercial site in Chiayi and one light-industrial plot in New Taipei.
Outlook: The tender is announced on September 21 and bids open on November 9, which will show how much developer appetite there is for prime Taipei land.
