• The united front model has changed from "punishment for not taking a stance" a decade ago to "market access, drama roles and endorsements for those who do."
• Chinese authorities need not issue orders directly: agencies, platforms and producers censor themselves to stay clear of the red lines.
• Shortly after Lin Chi-ling took up a board position at TAICCA, she was dropped from Chinese drama and variety programmes.
• Taiwan's Ministry of Culture budget was cut by NT$1 billion this year by the Legislative Yuan, with nearly NT$400 million frozen; PTS, TaiwanPlus and TAICCA were hit hardest.

Outlook: With domestic cultural resources shrinking, the pressure on performers facing the inducements of the Chinese market is only expected to grow.
