Li Si-chuan, the Kuomintang's candidate for New Taipei mayor, has appeared alongside Mayor Hou You-yi twice in three days, with the pan-blue camp presenting a show of unity ahead of the year-end elections.

• Li and Hou visited temples in Luzhou and Sanchong together today to offer incense and pray for blessings, and the two publicly declared that they would work together to win the year-end election.
• Hou had said the previous day that he wanted to work together with Li so that New Taipei could pass the baton "from one runner to the next," and Li responded that he would certainly give his all in taking up that baton.
• Li stressed that, like Hou, he "gets things done rather than talks a lot," and pledged to complete the Lushe Bridge, Luzhou Hospital and other projects he has planned.
• Luzhou and Sanchong have traditionally been seen as leaning green, and Li has visited them intensively in recent days, saying that none of New Taipei's 29 districts is inherently blue or green.
• He cited his record as head of the Taipei County Public Works Bureau, deputy county magistrate, and New Taipei deputy mayor, roles in which he was responsible for the Sanchong-Luzhou and Xinzhuang-Taishan-Wugu-Linkou areas, and stressed his long-standing cooperation with local borough chiefs.

Outlook: Li is expected to keep campaigning deep in traditional green strongholds to drive turnout, and Hou's joint appearances and endorsement are set to become the main theme of the pan-blue campaign in New Taipei.
