Aug 28, 2026

Taiwan and Thailand are tightening law-enforcement ties against drug trafficking and phone-and-internet scam networks, a positive step for people targeted by cross-border fraud.

  • Thailand's top representative in Taipei, Narong Boonsatheanwong, led a delegation to Taiwan's Investigation Bureau and met bureau head Chen Pai-li.
  • Both sides agreed to keep sharing intelligence on drug smuggling, telecom and online scams, and other cross-border crime.
  • Taiwan says no single country can handle these gangs alone, so joint operations are the only way to catch them.
  • Taiwan thanked Thai authorities for years of help, pointing to trust already built between the two sides.

Outlook: Expect more joint intelligence sharing and coordinated cases against scam and drug rings operating across Southeast Asia.
