Taiwan's opposition parties failed to agree on a joint candidate in Zhubei, raising doubts about whether their alliance holds in bigger races.

• The Taiwan People's Party will run Chiu Chen-yuan for Zhubei mayor to the end, after talks with the KMT broke down.
• TPP leader Huang Kuo-chang accused the KMT of breaking its word, saying party chair Cheng Li-wun told him she could not resolve the Zhubei race.
• The TPP insists Taichung is different, pointing to Mayor Lu Shiou-yen and KMT candidate Chiang Chi-chen as more reliable partners.
• Trust between the two parties is now the open question heading into the local elections.
