Prosecutors in Taipei are widening a corruption case against KMT lawmaker Chen Hsueh-sheng, a bad sign for the party as the probe reaches his family and shipping company executives.

• Chen himself was released on NT$2 million bail and barred from leaving Taiwan by land or sea.
• He is accused of using relatives to falsely claim public money for staff salaries and taking free staff labor from companies.
• Investigators also suspect he pressured state-owned CPC Corp to cancel a contract, saving a shipping firm from paying extra transport costs.
• Raids hit his home, his legislative office and several ferry and shipping agency companies, with 27 people brought in for questioning.
