A small brush fire on Maui was knocked down quickly Tuesday night, with one man hurt but no wider damage — a minor incident on an island still wary of wildfire.

• Crews reached the fire west of Kuihelani Highway, north of East Waiko Road, shortly after 7 p.m.
• The burn was held to half an acre of brush.
• One man breathed in smoke while working near the flames and was treated at the scene.
• Hard-to-reach terrain slowed firefighters getting to the site.
