LandMark Optoelectronics wins four-year US laser supply deal, spends NT$2.3bn on new capacity
Taiwan's LandMark Optoelectronics is locking in a long-term US customer and expanding production, a positive sign that AI data centre demand for optical parts is still growing.
- LandMark signed a four-year contract, running 2027 to 2030, to supply continuous-wave lasers to a US customer for data centres.
- The board approved up to NT$2.3bn to buy more production gear, part of a wider NT$3.3bn equipment push.
- It also locked in long-term supply of indium phosphide wafers, the key raw material, from a US supplier and a Japanese one through 2029.
- That follows an earlier five-year wafer deal with Sumitomo Electric, showing how tight the supply of this material has become.
- Market watchers think the US supplier is AXT, the world's biggest maker of these wafers, which already lists LandMark as a customer.
Outlook: Revenue growth should build from 2027 as the new equipment comes online and the AI data centre orders start shipping.
