Taiwan is back at the Pacific's biggest political gathering after being shut out last year, a small win for Taipei in its fight to stay visible against Chinese pressure.

• Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung travels to Palau for the forum's annual summit and side events with Pacific nations.
• He brings a business delegation covering energy, tech, food, construction and farming to hunt for deals in Palau.
• Last year Taiwan, China and the US were all barred from the summit in the Solomon Islands, which switched recognition to Beijing in 2019.
• Only three of the forum's 18 members still recognize Taiwan: Palau, the Marshall Islands and Tuvalu.

Outlook: Taiwan will keep leaning on aid and investment to hold its remaining Pacific friends as China works to peel them away.
