A Taiwanese man who wrote online that "killing DPP supporters is everyone's duty" has been identified by other users as a private English tutor, in a case that shows how ugly Taiwan's political divide is getting.

• The man, a supporter of the Taiwan People's Party, posted on Facebook that he was from Tainan and that killing supporters of the ruling DPP was a shared duty.
• When another user challenged him, he replied that if they gave him their home address, someone would show up within ten minutes.
• Users dug up his old posts in a Tainan tutoring group, where he advertised English lessons at NT$900 an hour and claimed overseas training with the army's special forces.
• He listed trips to the US, France, Germany and Japan plus certificates from a US Air Force language school, though many online called the résumé fake, arguing real special forces experience would not sell for that rate.
• Reactions ranged from parents alarmed that a self-described killer was applying to tutor children to calls for the defence ministry to look into him.
