• Chan Chi-wei, a chief prosecutor with 14 years on the job, has become a lawyer after working at the Justice Ministry.
• He handled what Taiwanese media called the biggest Chinese spy case ever, involving retired air force and army officers recruited by a Chinese intelligence agent.
• That case pulled in several serving and retired senior generals for questioning, including a former deputy defense minister.
