LandMark Optoelectronics locks in four-year laser supply deal and expands capacity
Taiwan chipmaker LandMark Optoelectronics has signed a batch of long-term contracts and is spending big on new equipment, a positive sign for its growth and for AI data center demand.
- A US customer has committed to buying LandMark's continuous-wave lasers for data centers from 2027 through 2030.
- The lasers feed AI and high-performance computing gear, so the deal ties LandMark directly to the data center buildout.
- LandMark also locked in four-year supply of indium phosphide wafers, its key raw material, from US and Japanese suppliers.
- The company is spending about NT$3.3 billion on new production equipment, including machines from German supplier AIXTRON.
- Management says the contracts and spending should lift both revenue and profits over the next few years.
Outlook: Capacity should ramp through 2027 as the equipment arrives, with earnings growth tied to how long the AI data center spending boom lasts.
