A thief in raincoat and helmet broke into two land god temples in Changhua County overnight, stealing donation money and leaving nearby temples on edge.

• The break-ins hit Tianwei's Xingfu Temple and neighboring Yongjing's Qingfu Temple within minutes of each other after 1am.
• Both times the locks were cut with an angle grinder, and the donation boxes were emptied — one temple lost several thousand NT dollars.
• Temple staff had heard about the first theft on Facebook and rushed to check, only to find they had already been robbed.
• Security footage shows the whole job took under five minutes, with the thief working right in front of the god statue.
