Taiwan's chip boom is spilling into Chiayi with a hiring push that is good news for local workers and job seekers.

• TSMC's materials unit and its charity foundation are teaming up with the Chiayi County government for a joint recruitment event on Aug 29.
• 22 supplier firms will be there, offering more than 100 job types and close to a thousand positions.
• Many roles start above NT$40,000 a month, and some pay over NT$60,000.
• The jobs come from TSMC's advanced packaging build-out in Chiayi, which is pulling in construction, electrical, equipment and automation work.
• Openings span engineering, machinery, equipment and skilled trades, aimed at new graduates and career changers alike.

Outlook: As the Chiayi science park fills out around advanced packaging, more supplier hiring is likely to follow.
