Taiwan's bullet train operator is adding extra services for a rare six-day holiday stretch, good news for travelers who book early.

• Taiwan High Speed Rail will run 176 extra trains between Sept. 24 and 29, for a total of 1,150 services.
• More trains are heading north than south, and tickets go on sale Aug. 27 through the T-EX app, convenience stores, and station counters.
• The crush comes from a rare overlap: Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sept. 25 this year and Teachers' Day is always Sept. 28, creating a four-day weekend.
• Each train will carry two to nine unreserved-seat cars, but those tickets do not guarantee a seat or even standing room on a specific train.
• A wait-time graphic on the THSRC website, the T-EX app, and LINE Today shows how long each station's boarding queues are running.

Outlook: Expect reserved seats on peak departures to sell out quickly once booking opens, leaving late planners standing.
