Taoyuan opens long-delayed Gaoqing Road link near Yangmei industrial park
A road bottleneck near Taoyuan's Yangmei industrial zone finally opened after 20 years of wrangling, good news for factory workers and truck traffic stuck in daily jams.
- A new stretch of road connecting Gaoqing Road and Gaoshi Road opened, after two decades of talks and land deals.
- The link is short — under 100 meters — but it lets traffic spread onto other streets instead of piling up at one choke point.
- The Yangmei industrial zone was never developed by the government, so companies had to build their own roads and drainage; two firms, Kinsus and Walsin Lihwa, each chipped in part of the cost.
- A separate fix to the Youshi interchange ramp was finished late last year as the short-term patch.
Outlook: Traffic controls around the industrial park are planned next to ease the morning and evening rush.
