Raincoat thief uses angle grinder to rob Changhua temple donation box
A temple in Changhua County was broken into overnight, a small-money theft that has local temples on edge.
- A thief in a helmet, mask and rain poncho cut through the temple's iron gate with an angle grinder around 2am.
- He plugged the tool into an outdoor socket he clearly knew was there, then cut open the donation box and emptied it.
- The haul was small — a couple thousand Taiwan dollars in offering money — but the whole job took under five minutes.
- Temple staff believe he scouted the site beforehand, since he came with his own tools, bag and extension cord.
Outlook: Police have the security footage and nearby temples are being warned to upgrade locks and cameras.
