Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te attended the national Filial Piety Award ceremony in Chiayi, where he announced the launch of Long-Term Care 3.0 — good news for families in need of care support.

• The Ministry of the Interior and Chiayi County today honoured 30 models of filial piety, the oldest aged 82 and the youngest 23.
• Recipients included family members who have provided long-term care for relatives with strokes, dementia and aphasia, with one having cared for their mother for more than 20 years.
• Lai Ching-te said Taiwan now has more than 15,000 long-term care service sites and over 100,000 long-term care workers.
• Long-Term Care 3.0 aims to link home care, rehabilitation, dementia care, community services and respite care more seamlessly.
• A new rental scheme for smart-technology assistive devices has also taken effect, easing the burden on family caregivers.

Outlook: Following the launch of Long-Term Care 3.0, the government expects to continue expanding service sites and respite care, further reducing the pressure on caregivers.
