Nānākuli High Students Help Feed Hundreds of Westside Families
Hundreds of families on Oʻahu's Westside got a big load of free food, thanks in large part to teenagers who gave up a day off to help.
- A food giveaway at Nānākuli High and Intermediate served more than 500 households, handing out about 2,400 meals.
- Each family took home roughly 150 pounds of food and supplies, all of it grown on local farms.
- More than 80 Nānākuli students pitched in, including the JV and varsity football teams.
- The event was run by Laʻi ʻŌpua Social Services, which organizes regular distributions in the area.
Outlook: With local farms supplying the produce and students showing up in force, more distributions like this one are likely on the Westside.
