MOFA Mobile Consular Services Head to Penghu for Two Straight Days from September 10

Aug 25, 2026

Penghu residents renewing their passports will no longer need to make a trip to Taiwan proper — good news for locals.

  • The "Mobile Consular Services" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Southern Taiwan Office will handle passport renewals and reissues in the basement auditorium of the Penghu County Government from the afternoon of September 10 through the morning of September 11.
  • This is the first time the service has been extended across two days, with a total of 250 queue tickets issued and each person able to file up to four applications.
  • When the service was first held in Penghu this May, only one day was scheduled, and public demand far exceeded capacity.
  • The Executive Yuan's Southern Taiwan Joint Services Center stepped in to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which led to the additional session and the extended intake hours.

Outlook: If the two-day intake draws an equally strong response, the model of adding sessions on the outlying islands is likely to continue.
