West Maui residents can get free in-person help applying for a U.S. passport this Friday, a small win for a community still rebuilding after the Lahaina fire.

• Maui County's Immigrant Services is running a passport application fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• It takes place at the Maui Family YMCA West Side Resource Center.
• The goal is to bring county services closer to people on the west side instead of making them travel.
