Man charged over sending obscene images to Taipei councilor Lin Chen-yu
A Taipei man has been indicted for repeatedly sending genital photos to Taipei city councilor Lin Chen-yu through fake accounts, and prosecutors are asking the court for a heavy sentence.
- Prosecutors charged the man with intimidation and breaking Taiwan's personal data law.
- Blocking him did nothing — he kept opening new accounts and sending more images.
- Lin, of the Taiwan People's Party, went public in June, saying online sexual harassment costs the abuser nothing while the victim carries the whole burden.
- Police tracked him down, searched his home in July, and he was released on bail.
Outlook: The case now moves to court, where prosecutors will push for a tough penalty as a signal on online sexual harassment.
