Two nights of Hawaiian fashion and performance are coming to Honolulu, a boost for local artists and the Native Hawaiian mahu community.

• The annual MAMo Wearable Art Show hits the Hilton's Tapa Ballroom on September 11, followed by Mahu Madness on the 12th.
• The wearable art show mixes established names with young up-and-comers, including Manaola and youth artists from the Queen Liliuokalani Trust.
• Linda and Nolan Nahulu are this year's honorees, and Kako'o Collective is bringing new apparel.
• Mahu Madness goes disco this year, with prizes for the best-decorated table and best disco outfit, hosted by Coco Chandelier.
• Many of the performers hold regular day jobs as designers, hairdressers, makeup artists and teachers, and sew their own costumes.

Outlook: Tickets are on sale now through the PAI Foundation website, with both shows expected to draw a crowd.
