Hsinchu County has taken home seven awards at the 2026 National Award for Excellence in Construction, good news for the quality of local public infrastructure and the county's image as a tourist destination.

• The school buildings at Wenxing Junior High School in Zhubei, the Zhudong Integrated Administration Center, the Toucian River bike path, the Xiaojinping hot spring trail in Jianshi, and the restoration of the Chu Family Ancestral Hall in Xinpu — five projects that collectively brought back seven awards.

• The Zhudong Integrated Administration Center received the top honor, the Award for Excellence in Planning and Design. Its design follows a "public living room" concept, turning an administrative building into a space where residents can linger.

• The Wenxing Junior High School buildings, whose curved architecture draws inspiration from Hakka weaving culture, won the Gold Award for Planning and Design. Total funding exceeded NT$1.4 billion.

• The bike path project links the Toucian River, Crescent Beach and the Hsinchu City coastline, joining scattered segments into a complete network.

• The restoration of the Chu Family Ancestral Hall won the Gold Award for Environmental Culture, showing that the county government is also spending money on revitalizing historic buildings.

Looking ahead: the county government says it will continue to keep strict control over the quality of public works, with the next priority being to bring actual visitor traffic into these newly completed venues and trails.
