A fall occurred on the National Taiwan University campus this afternoon, leaving a 29-year-old female master's student critically injured — grim news for both the university and the woman's family.

• At around 3 p.m. today, a second-year master's student in the Department of Physics surnamed Huang fell from an upper floor of the Condensed Matter Physics Building, breaking through a safety net before hitting the ground.
• A passing student found her and called the authorities; by the time paramedics arrived she had no pulse or breathing, and she was taken to National Taiwan University Hospital after CPR was administered.
• Police forensic work found no signs of external involvement or of an accident, and no suicide note or personal belongings were left at the scene.
• The Da'an Precinct has contacted the family to come to the police station to discuss the situation, and the exact cause has yet to be determined.
