Rescuers in Taichung are searching for an elderly man believed to have fallen from a bridge, and as of nightfall he had not been found.

• A man in his 70s was seen sitting astride the pier of Dongshi Bridge, on the boundary between Dongshi and Shigang, in the early evening.
• Police passed the report to the city fire department, which sent four vehicles and six responders from the Dongshi unit.
• Crews used a drone for an aerial search of the river area but came up empty once it got dark.
• It is still not confirmed whether the man went into the water.
