• Cheng described Lee's first run for office as that of "a maiden boarding the bridal sedan," saying he is solid at getting things done but not skilled with words, and needs local women's organisations to help drum up votes.
• She heaped praise on Hou Yu-ih's eight-year record, saying his support crosses party lines, and called on Lee to continue along that path.
• As she left, reporters pressed her on why she had not appeared alongside Lee; she did not respond and walked briskly into a lift.
• She also reminded supporters not to assume New Taipei is a sure win, and said they must actively get out the vote.

Outlook: Whether the two appear together in public will be the next indicator of how well the KMT has consolidated its New Taipei campaign.
