Bitcoin rarely retests its breakout level

Aug 24, 2026

Bitcoin usually runs higher without dipping back to the level traders are waiting to buy, which is bad news for anyone sitting in cash hoping for a cheaper entry.

  • After Bitcoin reclaims a key level, it has come back down to it only once in the last three cycles.
  • That one exception was 2015, when the price chopped sideways and drifted back near its old low.
  • In 2019 Bitcoin ran up over 160% with no real look back, aside from a few small dips along the way.
  • The 2023 move added around 25% without ever touching the level buyers were watching.
  • Waiting for the perfect retest has mostly meant missing the whole move.

Outlook: If the pattern holds, buyers waiting for a pullback risk being left behind rather than getting a second chance.
