A Taiwanese man serving a life sentence for smothering his 5-year-old son is still mailing threats to his ex-wife's family from jail, and a protection order has not stopped him.

• The man was sentenced to life in April for killing his sleeping son with a pillow at home in Keelung.
• After his appeal moved him from Keelung to the Taipei Detention Center, he sent another letter telling his ex-wife "heaven will take you."
• The family already got a protection order banning him from writing to them, and says it has done nothing.
• The Taipei Detention Center says he faked the recipient details to slip the letters past screening, and it will refer him to prosecutors for criminal threats.
• The relatives have gone to police and are asking why the government cannot stop a man already locked up.
