As the New Taipei City mayoral race heats up, KMT candidate Li Si-chuan is campaigning on transport and fisheries infrastructure — a positive signal for residents of Wanli.

• Li Si-chuan attended the inaugural meeting of the Wanli Chuan Friends Association, where all ten borough chiefs of Wanli District turned out to show their support.
• He said that in future he would look into reviving plans for the Wanshuang Tunnel, so that visitors to the National Palace Museum could travel straight through to Yehliu to see the Queen's Head rock and eat Wanli crab.
• Another policy pledge is to upgrade fishing-port infrastructure and improve working conditions for fishermen, while promoting Wanli crab through fisheries-based tourism.
• He drew on his local background — growing up in a fishing village on Xiaoliuqiu in Pingtung and previously serving as director of the Taipei County Public Works Bureau — to connect with grassroots voters.

Outlook: transport and fisheries infrastructure will be his main campaign themes in the northeastern corner of New Taipei, while whether the tunnel plans can be revived still awaits assessment by the city government and the central government.
