Torrential rain has severely damaged Kaohsiung's agriculture and fisheries. The city government is seeking relief covering all categories from the central government, which counts as good news for affected farmers, fishers and flooded households.

• Kaohsiung's disaster response centre remains at level one activation, and Mayor Chen Chi-mai has called on the Ministry of Agriculture to provide relief for all categories of crop and fish losses, and to simplify the review process.
• With flooding in homes causing losses of furniture, refrigerators and other items, the city government has also asked the central government to expand subsidies in line with past special programmes.
• Premier Cho Jung-tai said the central government has already approved a number of flood-prevention infrastructure plans, and that disaster and agricultural losses will be supported on the most generous terms.
• Disaster relief mobilisation has exceeded 4,400 person-times, rescuing 31 trapped residents and pre-emptively evacuating 2,649 people.

• Red alerts for debris flows have been issued for as many as 119 streams, along with warnings for seven large-scale landslide sites.

Outlook: Although the rain has eased, the weather remains unstable. The city government will maintain 24-hour vigilance for short-duration heavy rainfall and assess when evacuated residents can return home.
