Taipei City Councillor Chung Hsiao-ping has filed a criminal complaint against former legislator Kuo Cheng-liang, bringing the Blue camp's internal disputes over political direction into the open — a negative signal for the Kuomintang's electoral prospects.

• Kuo Cheng-liang described Chung Hsiao-ping as "blue skin, green bones" on a political talk show, and Chung promptly went to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office to file a complaint.
• The complaint cites three offences: violation of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election and Recall Act, aggravated defamation, and intent to cause a candidate not to be elected.
• Chung Hsiao-ping stressed that in thirty years in politics he has always belonged to the "Republic of China camp," that he opposes Taiwanese independence, and that he will not accept being smeared.
• He countered that Kuo Cheng-liang is the real "red unification politician," saying Kuo's position has shifted from supporting Tsai Ing-wen all the way to Beijing.
• Chung Hsiao-ping also spoke up for Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, criticising Kuo Cheng-liang for putting pressure on Chiang during the programme.

Outlook: This infighting within the Blue camp could intensify as the election approaches, and the legal battle is only the beginning.
