Xindian crash: driver veers into oncoming lane, hits car waiting at red light
A woman driving an SUV in New Taipei's Xindian district crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a car stopped at a red light, leaving her injured but everyone else unharmed.
- The crash happened Sunday afternoon on Zhongzheng Road, just after the SUV turned off the Xiulang Bridge ramp.
- The SUV drifted left, struck a waiting sedan, and flipped over; passers-by called it in.
- The 48-year-old driver walked away with scrapes on her hands and neck and was taken to a nearby hospital, awake and alert.
- Both drivers tested clean for alcohol and drugs, so police are looking at a lapse in attention.
Outlook: Police are reviewing security camera footage to pin down the cause and decide who was at fault.
