KMT lawmaker Weng Hsiao-ling has become the most disliked figure in Taiwan's ruling-party polling data after budget cuts hit cultural spending and a presidential office gift program — bad news for the KMT's public image ahead of further budget fights.

• She called the culture budget "feed for the Bluebirds," a jab at pro-DPP activists, while pushing to strip the Culture Ministry's publicity money.
• Her proposal to cut and freeze the Presidential Office's discretionary fund abruptly killed an order of Mid-Autumn gift boxes from sheltered workshops for disadvantaged people, sparking public anger.
• DPP internal social-media tracking clocked over 400,000 mentions of her in a week — nearly matching Taipei mayor Chiang Wan-an and far ahead of legislative speaker Han Kuo-yu.
• Of those mentions, 87% were negative and only 3% positive, a far worse split than Chiang Wan-an, Han Kuo-yu, or KMT chair Cheng Li-wun.

Outlook: The backlash gives the DPP an easy target and raises the political cost of the KMT's next round of budget cuts.
