Taoyuan city government is spending NT$3.77 billion to tear down and rebuild the aging Luzhu district office and Nankan public market, a long-term win for local residents but one that won't be finished for six more years.

• The old district office and market building are worn out and short on parking, so both will be knocked down and replaced.
• The new complex will combine government offices, a market, elderly care, a public daycare center, and social housing in one place.
• Two towers are planned — 13 and 9 floors above ground, four levels below — on a site in the Nankan area.
• Nine different government agencies will move in, from the local tax office to health and social welfare units.

Outlook: Bidding documents are open for public review now, with the contract due to be awarded by the end of this year, construction starting in 2028, and the doors opening in 2032.
