A 70-year-old driver lost control of his SUV at a Taipei memorial park and plowed toward a crowd of mourners, but nobody was seriously hurt.

• The SUV was climbing a slope at Ci-En Park in Taipei's Xinyi District when it clipped a parked shuttle bus.
• It then shot into a covered walkway and stopped only after hitting a wheelchair ramp, just short of the people gathered for a memorial service.
• Two people were slightly hurt: the driver and a 25-year-old bystander struck along the way.
• The driver tested clean for alcohol and had a valid license, so police are still working out what went wrong.
• Witnesses said they heard the engine rev and then saw the car coming straight at them, and credited luck that it hit the ramp instead.
