Heavy morning rain in Tainan is being blamed for an SUV crash on Provincial Highway 84 that sent three people to hospital.

• An SUV skidded out of control and hit the guardrail on the Xiaying section of Highway 84 around 9am.
• The driver and two passengers were hurt, with the front of the vehicle badly damaged.
• Two men in their thirties had scrapes and body pain; a woman in her fifties suffered a suspected broken thigh bone.
• Fire crews from Madou and Xuejia responded, and the injured were taken to two nearby hospitals.
• Police in Madou are investigating what caused the vehicle to lose control.

Outlook: Slick roads from continued heavy rain make more accidents likely on the same stretch until the weather clears.
