A jaywalking accident in New Taipei's Sanchong district ended badly for two men when an off-duty police officer spotted them trying to hide drug-laced e-cigarettes.

• Two men crossed the road illegally, forcing a car to brake hard and a motorcycle behind it to crash into it.
• When the car driver stopped them, one man slipped his e-cigarette into a bag and passed it to his friend.
• An off-duty officer passing by saw the handoff and called for backup, and police pinned both men down in the street.
• Officers seized etomidate vape oil, cartridges, two vape pens, empty shells, and three phones.
• One of the men turned out to be wanted by prosecutors in a separate case involving unlawful restraint.

Outlook: Both men face drug charges in New Taipei, and the wanted man has been handed over to the Shilin prosecutors' office.
