A jaywalking crash in New Taipei's Sanchong district ended badly for the two men who caused it, after an off-duty police officer happened to see them hiding drug paraphernalia.

• Two men crossed a road illegally, forcing a car to brake hard and causing a motorcycle behind it to crash into the car.
• When the driver got out to confront them, one of the men slipped his e-cigarette into a bag and handed it to his companion.
• An off-duty officer passing by saw the handoff, called for backup, and both men were pinned down in the street.
• Police seized etomidate vape oil, cartridges, two vape pens, empty pods, and three phones.
• One of the pair turned out to be wanted on a separate charge and was taken into custody.

Outlook: Both men face drug charges, with the wanted man also handed over to prosecutors on his outstanding case.
